How long is the Minett Trail?

90 km, divided into 10 official station-to-station stages.

Alternative stages offer hikes from one hiking hut - the “Kabaisercher” - to the next.

Can I hike one stage only?

Yes! Compare the stage distance and difficulty and use nearby public transport for your journey, and find the route that best suits your intended journey.

Where can I download GPX files?

Use the stage pages or the dedicated downloads section.

Do I need a GPX file?

Not necessarily; the “Minett Trail” is thoroughly signposted in both directions, as well as on its access paths. GPX files are a good idea as a fallback option, however - in case of vandalism or other damage to the signposting.

Can I book a guided tour?

Yes! Give us a call or write us an email, and we'll be happy to arrange a guided tour for you, according to your specifications.

Where can I stay overnight?

In addition to hotels in the region, the 11 “Kabaisercher” offer you the opportunity to sleep along the trail. Check each accommodation page for availability and booking.

Are dogs allowed?

Of course. Do keep in mind, however, that mans best friend should be kept on a leash at all times. Some of the nature reserves you'll be exploring are classified as bird/animal sanctuaries and have tight regulations we would hate for you to fall afoul of.

Do also keep in mind that dogs are not necessarily allowed in the accomodations when staying overnight. Check beforehand.

Are the trail stages family-friendly or accessible for people with reduced mobility?

In general, no; since most stages have a more or less challenging profile on, occasionally, very rocky terrain, the use of prams or wheelchairs is not recommended.

Some individual sections are accessible, though. Feel free to get in touch with us, and we'd be happy to explain the specific parts that would best suit you.

What should I bring?

Sturdy footwear and weather-appropriate clothing; follow the marked route and take care at road crossings and on shared sections.

And of course: lots of time to enjoy your hike and the beautiful landscape.
