JEUNE PUBLIC - Escher Theater
Art education, as aesthetic, artistic and cultural training, is a major topic in children's education and is now a sector in itself of cultural policies. In 1995, UNESCO included it in the 'Universal Declaration of the Rights of the Child'. The Théâtre d'Esch is aware of the importance and the necessity to accompany young audiences on their art, entertainment and cultural journey from a very young age.
As a pioneer in Esch-Alzette and in the European Capital of Culture 2022 Esch2022 territory, the Théâtre d'Esch took the initiative in 2018 to create a Young Audiences programme, aimed at children, schoolchildren and families. This initiative was met with immediate and widespread success: for some shows, demand is ten times higher than the available seats! The Théâtre d'Esch sees the need to fulfil its responsibility as a public service, serving the public of tomorrow and the families of today. The European Capital of Culture year 2022 will be a great tool to launch a sustainable impulse to broaden and deepen the approach initiated today. The Théâtre d'Esch has set itself two objectives for the success of Young Audiences: to offer each age group artistic proposals several times a year, and to develop the conditions for long-term sustainability of this action.
