Le Grand Bal
'DifferDanceDays' is a project focused on dance and the 'REMIX' of the arts. Inspired by the theme 'REMIX Yourself', this project brings together, through multiple artistic actions, protagonists of the dance sector proposing diverse and original art forms. A particular feature of this project is the intention to develop several events over the course of 2022, largely created with, for and by the community.
Throughout the year of the European Capital of Culture Esch2022, 'DifferDanceDays' aims to raise public awareness about dance, bringing a new dynamic and rhythm that invites the spectator to (re)discover the city of Differdange and its urban heritage, its natural spaces and its public places in a unique way. Through artistic and cultural actions, this project proposes immersive and interactive experiences through various proposals (shows, performances, workshops, installations, etc.).
Five concepts will be developed throughout the year of the European Capital of Culture: The 'Move Zone' is a project in partnership with local associations, to offer free workshops, courses and workshops, aimed at different communities (young people, children, elderly people, people with disabilities, amateurs, professionals, etc.). This project aims to offer an opportunity to discover contemporary dance and to convey movement and its benefits to society. The 'Move Zone' will consist of five different workshops over five weekends between January and May. This project also prepares for the big Dance Ball, by recruiting amateur dancers.
The 'Kingdom of Silence' is a project based on the interaction of the public and a defined and limited space. This project proposes the idea of a small kingdom where the only law is absolute silence. As soon as a spectator enters this space in the heart of the Science Center, the only means of communication will be movement. Dancers will be waiting patiently for them to arrive in order to start a physical dialogue.
The 'DANCEMOBILE' will consist of spontaneous dance activities in different places in the town: church, swimming pool, stadium, etc. Dancers from the Lucoda collective will then initiate improvised dance actions, inviting people who happen to be there to dance.
'In Transit Dance Time': during mobility week, in partnership with the TICE, bus stops and a bus will be taken over by the collective and the residents will be able to take part in festive dance performances, evoking different styles of dance throughout the ages.
The 'Bal Dansant': at the closing of Differdange, commune of the month, on 22 October 2022, we invite the inhabitants to come and dance together. The choreography will be guided by professional artists and volunteer dancers, who will be able to join the public at the end.
